Commissioned family portrait

This painting was for me very challenging task. I got three old sepia photos from 1977 of the horse Squirrely and his owner’s family.
I also learned something from Squirrely’s famous history:
The horse’s official name registered with the American Quarter Horse Association was Requested Triple, but his unofficial nickname was Squirrely. His sire was Triple Shadow; very good half thoroughbred, half quarter horse stallion. His mother was a thoroughbred mare by Northern Dancer. So Squirrely was actually 3/4 thoroughbred and 1/4 quarter horse, but he was registered with the AQHA as an appendix horse.
Squirrely was very good at 440 to 880 yards. Rather long distance for a quarter horse, but his thoroughbred genes helped him. He was not lightning fast, but he was a good and very consistent runner. He won 23 of 25 races, largely by not running him outside of his class.
